Experimentally studies the thermal characteristics of exterior-wall with internal or external thermal insulation under intermittent energy-using mode. Continually measures the outdoor, indoor air temperatures and the all wall surface temperatures, then calculates the air temperature rising (declining) reaction rate and heat storage loads of the rooms with internal or external thermal insulation, and compares the energy saving effects of this two thermal insulation methods. The results show that the internal insulation room has a higher heat reaction rate and lower heat storage load, and the energy saving effect is obvious.
